Fully Coupled Large Eddy Simulation of Conjugate Heat Transfer in a Ribbed Channel with a 0.1 Blockage Ratio

Large eddy simulations are performed to analyze the conjugate heat transfer of turbulent flow in a ribbed channel with heat-conducting solid wall. An immersed boundary method (IBM) is used determine effect region on that fluid unitary computational domain. To satisfy continuity flux at solid–fluid interface, effective conductivity introduced. By applying IBM, it possible fully couple convection side and conduction inside use dynamic subgrid scale model Cartesian grid. The blockage ratio (e/H) set 0.1, which typical for gas turbine blades. Through analysis, confirmed peak front rib occurs because impinging reattached not influence thermal condition. When turbulator acts as fin, its efficiency effectiveness predicted be 98.9% 8.32, respectively. considering transfer, total rate reduced by 3% compared isothermal Biot number internal cooling passage <0.1, height characteristic length better represents rib.
